19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
